Our story

Origin

Four decades, from a living room in Kuwait to a church family.

  1. 1983

    Seven people met for worship and prayer within the humble confines of the four walls of a home in Kuwait. The numbers of people attending grew over the next decade, but there were restrictions for people to meet corporately, on a regular basis

  2. 1998

    As believers were added to the congregation, regular homes were not able to accommodate. The church took up a basement of a building and started to have regular meetings.

  3. 2004

    Abundant Life Fellowship (ALF) was officially acknowledged and registered as a church in Kuwait, and John Mathew & Gracy John were ordained as Pastors of the church

  4. 2020–21

    During Covid, the church had to suspend in-person meetings and migrated to the ZOOM platform for all meetings.

  5. 2024

    The church moved into a new facility by renting a larger basement of an apartment to conduct the regular weekly meetings.

What we believe

  • Belief 01 of 7

    God

    There is one true eternal God, who is sovereign, infinitely perfect and eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

  • Belief 02 of 7

    Jesus

    The Son of God. He lived a sinless life while on earth and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people, by his atoning death. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death and ascended to Heaven, and will return to earth to reign as King.

  • Belief 03 of 7

    Holy Spirit

    The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, is received by faith. The Holy Spirit’s guidance in a person’s life is evidenced by changes in his life, including a renewed love for God, and people, a commitment to the scriptures and holy living. The gifts of the Holy Spirit seen in the New Testament are still active within the life of the church. These gifts did not cease to exist with the close of the New Testament (1 Cor. 12:1-11)

    Bible

    The Bible is the inspired and only infallible Word of God written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is accurate, authoritative and relevant today, and is the final authority on all matters of Christian faith and practice

  • Belief 05 of 7

    Church

    The Church of Jesus Christ is the spiritual body of believers globally, and is indwelt by God through the Holy Spirit and divinely empowered to fulfill the Great Commission on earth. There is power and significance when believers meet regularly together for worship, fellowship, prayer and the `breaking of bread’

  • Belief 06 of 7

    Water Baptism

    A symbolic step of obedience of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ and is a way for us to publicly declare our new life in Christ.

    A symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.

Founding Pastors

The pioneers of the ALF Church, having obeyed God’s call to take up the mantle of the Church, which was once called Life Fellowship Kuwait in the early nineties.

Driven by God’s love for the unreached, their passion for the perishing even today is as energetic as when they had commenced their ministry, dedicating their lives in the service of the flock and for being pillars of fire and walls of prayer for those around.

Pastor John & Grace are also trained Physiotherapists from Nagpur – India, and had been working in Kuwait’s Ministry of Health, for over 35 years. They are truly the epitome of love, compassion and zeal to continue God’s great commission.

Pastor

Pastor Abraham and Panchami are one of the pioneer members of ALF Church. Their passion for the Gospel, love for the body of Christ, heart to serve and the willingness to sacrifice their time and efforts for the needs of the church at any given hour are some of the many qualities that make them stand out.

Being mighty prayer warriors they are always standing in the gap and interceding for the church. “As for me and my household we will serve the Lord” — the whole family is serving the Lord at different capacities in the church. Pastor Abraham was ordained by Pastor John Mathew on Sept 2009. We are blessed to have such dedicated people shepherd ALF.

Mathews John and Pretta Mathew

English Service, Youth & Kids

Mathews John & Pretta Mathew lead the English service, alongside overseeing the youth and kids’ ministry of Abundant Life Fellowship.

Mathews is an architect by profession and has a passion to reach out to the city’s youth & young adults. His wife, Pretta Mathew is a journalist and leads the Kids of Life ministry. Together they’ve chosen to invest into building the next generation through the simple yet powerful message of sharing Christ and loving people.
